Yeovil Town Centre Partnership
STRIVING TO PROMOTE A THRIVING TOWN Team Effort
Yeovil Town Centre Partnership is asking members of the public not to give any money to beggars on the streets. Instead, there are a number of boxes located in stores in the town and money collected in these is given straight to the agencies which provide assistance for the homeless. This ensures that your donation goes directly to where it can help best. 'Helping Hands' donation boxes can be found in Marks & Spencer, Woolworths, Burger King and Boots. SAFER BUSINESS AWARD Yeovil have achieved the Safer Business Award. This utilises radio link, CCTV, the exchange of intelligence and exclusion orders to help beat the thieves that cause problems in our stores. Retail crime in 2000 cost £1.7 billion, this a tremendous amount of money and costs the average household the equivalent of £90 a year. The Town Centre Partnership is making every effort to try and reduce this horrendous bill and Yeovil, by seeking this award, will also become a safer and more attractive place to shop. The present Town Centre Manager is Ian Budd, whose role it is to work in partnership with the private, public and business sectors of the community to encourage a thriving town. |
